William Prince - Reliever

Reliever is the latest album by Canadian folk-country powerhouse, William Prince. Since the release of his debut album, Earthly Days, Prince has been making quite the name for himself on the Canadian and international folk scene, and with the release of Reliever, it’s clear that he is here to stay.

Reliever is a goldmine of atmosphere; captivating and authentic, it’s hard not to find yourself connecting with Prince’s music on a deeper level. One of the strengths of Reliever is the superb songwriting, lyrically each and every song paints a picture that invokes your emotions, leaving you longing for more.

Prince’s exceptional ability to observe his own emotions and experiences and put them into words is what makes this album so appealing. There’s an underlying sombre tone throughout the album, but it’s not “woe is me”, it’s a tale of resilience, enduring hard times and making the best out of what you’ve got.

From start to finish Reliever is a journey, it’s the kind of music that I’d recommend for a night of self reflection in the cold winter months. The kind of music that makes me long to sit by a crackling fire near an old abandoned logging road, just taking in everything around me.
